I have a habit of hosting functions for friends and family and even for work, so whenever events come up, I always have a variety of quality catering services on quick-dial to save the day.
I've come across so many different types of catering services, but none tops the quality list like "Indoor Dining and Service Consultants." Their catering services is in a class of uniqueness that boasts quality from beginning to end... whether it's finger-foods, dessert pastries or a complete a la carte range of course meals, you will agree that they definitely know how to make an impression when it comes to the art of fine-dining.
As their reputation is passed on by word of mouth, I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending their services for any functions that you may want to host, whether it's for home, or for work events or celebrations.
With Indoor dining... you're in good hands.

The Ashiyana experience
Ashiyana is a Persian word that describes the sweetness of the home and the environment therein. However in the Capital City of Suva, Ashiyana is the name normally associated with exceptional Indian cuisine...
From Rogan Josh to Murgi tika Massala to the tastiest vegetarian meal... Ashiyana specialises in authentic Indian curries that will always leave a lasting impression whether you're with your family or with your friends, or when you're dining on your own.
For starters, I always enjoy the mouth-watering taste of the lamb kebabs and the chicken 65... before moving on to the Chicken Bhiriani main course meal. Like the Italian lasagne, the Bhiriani itself is comprised of layers. But unlike the Italian Lasagne, the bhiriani is a healthy (not to say that lasagne isn't healthy) layer of spicy chicken (bottom layer), fresh vegetables (middle layer) and steamed white rice (top layer).
When I usually dine at Ashiyana... apart from ordering my own favourite choices, I always make an effort to try out something new. Believe me when I say, that although the "curry" may all look the same when you order them, it is the diversity in taste that will always leave you guessing as to how the chef is able to mix just the right amount of herbs and spices, to give each meal its "unique" taste. And that is just one of the reasons I go there - because the unique taste of each meal is nothing less than captivating.
So when you're in Suva City and you're looking for authentic Indian cuisine, don't just settle for your average "curry-in-a-hurry"... I recommend you make it an "Ashiyana" experience.

A weekend at Restaurant 88
My previous blog on Restaurant 88 was just an introduction to a unique experience in dining.
I must admit that nothing quite prepared me for the decision to choose Restaurant 88 as a weekend dining spot. Then again, it could've been the unforgettable taste of the "Chillie Crab." And yes, you can be forgiven if in your enthusiasm, you go there on a sunday afternoon (like me :P ) with your very own takeaway pot from home... Just so you could eat more Chillie Crab!! Indeed!!
The one thing memorable about this meal is the lingering taste of the sauce that they use... It is just absolutely divine... with just a hint of peanut swimming in a sea of Asian spices and sweet chillie sauce, believe me when I say that the Chillie Crab is a main course meal you'll want to add to your list of Asian wonders.
Of course, the crabs are all freshly cooked and you can always tell the freshness of the crab when you break a crab's joint and the meat comes out freely and cleanly with just one pull. But that's just the begining of the dining experience. After the meal, you'll always have enough of the sauce left over to take-away with some freshly steamed rice to enjoy at home.
If there's one thing I've learned about Restaurant 88, it's that you'll never forget the unique taste of their meals. And if you're always into trying something new, Restaurant 88 will never disappoint.

Restaurant 88
The Restaurant 88 is a franchise of Asian cuisine that has just recently been established in the capital of Fiji...
With flavours that are equally as diverse as the menu, you will definitely enjoy the experience that they have to offer...
Location: 2nd floor of the MHCC Complex in Suva.
One of my own personal favourites has always been the "lamb in oyster sauce." which feature stir-fried lamb pieces that are afterwards served in oyster sauce. You'll notice that the dish is served with garlic, steamed to remove the smell and tangy taste. But when you bite into it, you'll discover that the freshness has lost none of its potency.
One thing that's equally great to experience is their Yum cha menu which features a variety of steamed food and vegetables, served in their very own bamboo steam pots. From the Yum cha menu, I've always been partial to the chicken and mushroom. Steamed to perfection, you'll find that this ordinary meal is one that is hard to resist.
Put plainly, all the dishes at the Restaurant 88 are unbelievably easy to cook. It will make you wonder why you never tried it before.
I hope to one day replicate the exact same experience in the kitchen at home. In the meantime, I really don't mind paying $8 for such an enjoyable experience. And I would gladly recommend this place to all my friends and family.

For starters...
Suva City... population...? close to 90,000 citizens... culturally diverse and equally flamboyant when it comes to good food... You'll find an abundance of fast-food outlets, fish-n-chips shops and barbecue stalls... but if you look hard enough, you'll also find a rare place or two that will [given the chance] leave a lasting impression on your taste-buds...
You don't need to have qualifications to write a good review of food places in Suva... It is the love of good food that qualifies you to do so...
This blog encourages Suva Citizens to point out all the common and rare places... as well as the places that are especially gifted in preparing those meals that leave you wondering about particular ingredients and their measurements... secrets that only the chef would know...
I, for one, have visited many good dining places in Suva, and there are a few that I would gladly recommend...
and if you have also come across equally memorable places, please don't hesitate to note it down here...
